2c- This picture got me to thinking the way almost everything from C.S Lewis does. And it struck me how many times it's not the treads that are worn but our souls. Our souls grow weary & in many ways they get neglected more than anything because it feels like it's too much to overcome.
When this happens it is as if the very Spark in our beings has gone twilit or even dark....it can be the hardest mountain to climb.
Funny thing about mountains,..the farther up you go, the less baggage (self) you can carry, you have to start laying things down to move up & forward.
Encouragement: Take Hope, I've seen hearts refreshed in minutes as if the weariness had vanished. First we must turn the roots of our souls to fresh & living water & we can be like the tress of the desert never knowing wilt, because our roots run deep.
"For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters that spreads out its roots by the river; and it shall not see and fear when heat comes; but its leaf shall be green. It shall not be anxious and full of care in the year of drought, nor shall it cease yielding fruit." Jeremiah
"For I the Lord will [fully] satisfy the weary soul, and I will replenish every languishing and sorrowful person." - Jeremiah
Challenge: My challenge for you this week is... for you to not neglect your soul....though it has one body it is eternal, the body is not.

I really needed this, Kris.
i love that picture. i have to think about this. i'm carrying around some ugly right now. but i should and will let it go. that picture. is really something. very calming.
This is about the finest post I have seen in quite a while. This is exactly what I believe about the nature of the soul. We need not fear physical death, nor infirmity.
@xdeelynnx - You're Mucho Welcome!
@my0615 - I've been thinking about and praying for you...
@promisesunshine - Just like the pioneers had to leave things they at first thought they couldn't live without, we find that place on the mountain trail where we can go no further bc it becomes narrow & narrower....we must lay it down.
@RighteousBruin -
Nice to know.
@Kris0logy - Thank you so much. I miss my Vic. I spoke to him tonight on msn messenger, as we do every night. If I do not ind good job in 4 weeks, I will abandon this country and move to Colombia. He bought us a condo outside of Medellin. I could teach there. What happened to our economy? ;(
How come you're not with him now...just wondering...
Good point.
At times the soul feels not like a tree spreading it's roots into a river, but a Bansai in a windowsill, artificially trimmed & stunted by one too many external influences.
@Lakakalo - Excellent word picture!
@Kris0logy - you forgot to tag my0615 in your response "why aren't you with him now." And nice post. C.S. Lewis is fucking amazing.
@my0615 - How come you're not with him now...just wondering...
@amateurprose - And Thank You, the dude was something else, so was Charles Finney but most don't know him bc he wasn't a story writer.
@Kris0logy - Thanks. I suppose folks would be wise to put down the bowl of chicken soup for the soul and start mulching. :D
@Kris0logy - I'd have to sell everything I have and leave my family. I will do that if I don't find something soon.But I'd be leaving my debts behind. LOL
Tis a good challenge.
@my0615 - that sounds rough, any chance he can come back?
@Kris0logy - We submitted all the paperwork and we're waiting. It my not be until October until we hear.
@my0615 - Hang in there, there will come a time when this was just a blip in your memories.
@Kris0logy - Then we can return to the USA.
@Kris0logy - BTW, because he overstayed a tourist visa, he is subject to a 10 year ban from returning unless the government grants him a waiver.
